- Story Text: More than 100 British Bobbies arrive in New York to
show their solidarity of the victims of the 9/11 attacks.
One hundred British Bobbies gathered at New York's
Times Square in a "salute to the Big Apple" on Tuesday. The
British police officers are in New York to show their
support on the second anniversary of the September 11
attacks.
Arthur Sipthorpe a police officer from London said that
he was in New York to show solidarity with the New York
Police Department, "Because being police officers from all
over the world, we're all the same ilk of people really.
Got to support each other."
Karen Riley, a police constable from Glasgow said that
she was glad to show her support along with a hundred of
her colleagues from around the United Kingdom.
In a sign of mutual police admiration, a New York police
officer and a British counterpart traded hats.
Thursday marks the second anniversary of the September
11th attacks on the World Trade Centre. The names of the
victims, including 67 U.K. citizens, will be read by
children at the World Trade Centre Site.
