- Story Text: Russian designers Igor Chapurin and Irina Krutikova have displayed elegant and surprisingly wearable designs on the second day of Moscow's Fashion Week.
Igor Chapurin kicked off his show with wide dresses with elegant corset-pattern tops.
Chapurin's tones, patterns and music remained subtle and soft throughout - a big change for Chapurin who was given top honours in last year's Moscow Fashion week and earned a loyal following for his whimsical, ingenious designs.
But this year Chapurin concentrated on smart casual anytime wear. The rich red gowns and arctic-blue sweaters could be taken straight from the catwalk to serve as appropriate attire for a winter's evening outing.
Chapurin collection was followed by Russia's queen of fur designs, Irina Krutikova.
The Berlin-trained designer, who won the show's top honour in 1996, has claimed 57 international prizes in 35 years of showing her work.
Her career has boomed in the past years as a new generation of domestic consumers has been able see and afford her designs.
But while Chapurin has moved from wild to wearable, Krutikova has been opening up her playful side.
She displayed a range of fur designs in bright patterns and stripes, throwing in dangling trims and reversable coats.
This is the seventh annual Moscow Fashion Week, a series of shows designed to promote the presence of Russian designers.
