Boni's collection was characterised by its short hemlines and pale pastel colours, including the palest pink and pistachio green spiced by salmon and coral. Dance dresses were diaphanous, bubbly creations with strapless tops and skirts irridescent gauzy ruffles. Boni's swimmer collection included bikinis and corset-style costumes in darker colours that the rest of the collection. A spokesman for the Milan collections, Beppo Modenese, told reporters after the show that the reason for the country's success in the fashion world was that Italy 'is the first and only country where a combination exists between styling and industry'. The Italian designer's shows are the first stop on a five-week-long fashion circuit that moves later to London, Paris and New York.
