  • Story Text: New York designer for Louis Vuitton, Marc Jacobs,
    unveiled his 1999 Autumn-Winter collection at the Parc Andr
    Citroen in Paris on Monday (March 8).

    Marc Jacobs show for Louis Vuitton on Monday (March 8)
    featured Navajo ponchos, ribbed sweaters with sliced sleeves
    and A-line skirts with fish-tail hems low on the calf.

    But it looked like Jacobs got lost somewhere between the
    disco years and hippie age and did not quite know which genre
    to choose.

    So he straddled the two areas, sending out low-slung
    bell-bottoms paired with sparkly jackets that were a toned
    down version of Disco 54.

    Studded belts and flashy gold heels on leather boots
    clashed with yarn stoles and droopy rainhats.

    It was a strange collection in which red, beige, black and
    olive green reminded many observers of their highschool days.
