- Story Text: Hundreds of glamorous new boating designs have been on show at the annual Boat Show in London, this week. boats, services and equipment from at least fifteen countries are ranged around an exotic Spanish-style boating pool. In it some of the world's most exciting pleasure yachts are riding at anchor during the ten-day exhibition.
Over six hundred boats have been on display, including some of the winners from 1972's international racing competitions. The trend is more towards power-boats then ever before, with big luxury yachts well-displayed--and selling, according to their manufacturers, "In increasing numbers".
Among the exhibition are companies from Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, West Germany, Holland, Italy, Japan, Malta, New Zealand, Norway, Spain, Sweden and the U.S.A. Over four hundred British manufacturers are also represented.
London's 1973 Boat show opened this week with over six hundred craft and boating equipment from fourteen countries on display.....including luxurious ocean-going vessels like this Powles Forty-One. It's not unlike many other keenly-sought boats in the luxury yacht market--sleek lines, sophisticated mechanical and electronic equipment, and the ultimate in comfortable living quarters.
The exhibits were ranged around a central Spanish-style pool, with over two dozen vessels riding at anchor. More than six hundred boats were on display, ranging from canoes and dinghies to sailing yachts, motor cruisers and speed-boats. The uncrossing popularity of place-fibre plastic hulls was evident--over five hundred of the boats of show had this type of hull. And there was even one craft with a cement hull.
Displayed with the boats--equipment necessary for cruising, like this radar until from Denmark.....
....and engines such as the M.G. inboard.
The ten-day show, in the indoor stadium at Earls Court, was the biggest ever--and almost all the companies exhibiting said their sales figures were up every year.
