- Story Text: Hundreds marched on Saturday (February 7) in downtown Mexico City to demand freedom for the Venezuelan ousted president Nicolas Maduro and denounce U.S. interference in Latin America.
The organiser of the march, the Mexican Anti-Imperialist Front for Venezuela, called for people from different groups to rally under the motto, "One, two, three—on behalf of me and all of our Latin America," to defend sovereignty and the self-determination of peoples from foreign aggression, according to Mexican media.
February 3 marked one month since the U.S. captured Maduro and first lady Cilia Flores in an unprecedented military intervention in Caracas.
Protesters have rallied in Mexico City both in support of and against the military operation.
The Mexican government has condemned the U.S. military intervention and repeatedly stated its commitment to multilateralism, dialogue, and diplomacy as the means to resolve conflicts between countries, in accordance with the framework of the United Nations and international law.
