- Story Text:Orthodox Christians in Bulgaria marked the feast of Saint Haralampi on Tuesday (February 10), traditionally asking blessings for bees, honey and beekeepers.
Haralampi, or Haralambos, was a third-century Christian priest in Asia Minor, present-day Turkey. According to Orthodox belief, Haralampi was extensively persecuted and tortured by Roman authorities, but his wounds were miraculously healed with honey given to him by pious Christians.
Every February 10, faithful Orthodox Christians gather for mass, asking God's blessing for bees and beekeepers, as well as their own jars of honey.
