- Story Text:Protests were held at New Delhi's main protest location urging India not to join U.S President Donald Trump's proposed Board of Peace, calling it an imperialistic U.S. initiative.
U.S. President Trump first proposed the Board of Peace last September when he announced his plan to end the Gaza war. He later made clear the board's remit would be expanded beyond Gaza to tackle other conflicts worldwide.
The protesters held banners and sang resistance song in solidarity of the Palestinian cause at Jantar Mantar.
India is currently reviewing the invitation to join the Board of Peace.
Governments around the world have reacted cautiously to Trump's invitation to join that initiative. While some of Washington's Middle Eastern allies have joined, many of its traditional Western allies have thus far stayed away. - Copyright Holder: ANI (India)
