- Story Text: Canada's Megan Oldham braved a blizzard on Monday (February 16) to top the podium in the women's big air and extend Eileen Gu's wait for a gold at the Milano Cortina Winter Olympics.
Twenty-four year-old Oldham added to her slopestyle bronze last week to become the first Canadian woman to win multiple medals in freestyle skiing at a single Games.
Meanwhile, Gu's second silver of Milano Cortina saw her equal Oldham's compatriot Mikael Kingsbury as the most decorated freestyle skier in history having won a medal in all five Olympic events she has contested since debuting in Beijing.
The big air final was delayed by over an hour due to heavy snow fall and strong winds at the freestyle skiing venue in Livigno.
Some competitors were already stood atop the 55-metre jump gearing up for their first run when the announcement was made.
Having topped the qualifiers, Oldham was slated to drop in last and so had already secured gold before her final run with a combined score of 180.75 against Gu's 179.00 and and bronze medallist Italian Flora Tabanelli's 178.25.
