- Story Text: After a challenging year in the fashion industry, Sergio Hudson is just happy to be at New York Fashion Week. "The industry is in a transitional phase, and we're kind of caught in the shuffle of that. So just to be able to still show and still present a collection in that shuffle and not feel like you're gonna - you know, because I could be gone right now," said Hudson.
The Los Angeles-based designer channeled all that stress into what he called his "best" collection on Friday, February 13.
"All about resilience, all about sticktoitiveness, all about a dream of a five-year-old little boy, you know? And... a journey, for sure."
The line started off with the Pantone color of the year, cloud dancer, which was also the color of the runway carpet. Deep ebony and pops of color helped complete the looks. Elegant suiting was presented in various colors and pinstripes for men and women.
Models slowly traversed a room inside the New York Public Library to a soundtrack of classic jazz songs.
Hudson is one of the ten designers event organizers sponsored to help offset the high cost that comes with hosting a runway.
New York Fashion Week will end on February 16 after nearly 60 brands have shown their collections.
