- Story Text: Investment commitments by AI leaders have already crossed $250 billion, said India's IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Friday (February 20), after wrapping up the week-long impact AI summit.
The six-day event still notched more than $200 billion in investment pledges for AI infrastructure in India, including a $110 billion plan announced by Reliance Industries on Thursday. India's Tata Group also signed a partnership deal with OpenAI.
Vaishnaw said the total figure continues to grow each day, echoing Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's sentiment of the country being a natural hub for secure, and scalable AI.
Earlier in the day, Modi also held a series of bilateral meetings with global leaders, while Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon and OpenAI's Altman met him separately.
The summit, however, has also faced broader organisational difficulties since opening, with delegates reporting overcrowding and logistical issues. - Copyright Holder: ANI (India)
