At least three militants were gunned down in India's northern Kashmir, said the Indian army's White Knight Corps in a post on social media platform, X, on Sunday (February 22).
The operation, titled Trashi-I, was a joint effort by combined forces, including the army and the Jammu and Kashmir police, said General Officer Commanding, Counter-Insurgency Force Delta, A.P.S Bal.
"Collectively, jointly, with all the elements which we had on our disposal, that is, the army, the special forces, police, the SOG (Special Operations Group), the CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force) we could collectively conclude that operation", he said.
The army dog Tyson, who helped initiate the operation, succumbed to injuries, he added.
India accuses Pakistan of helping what it says are Islamist "terrorists" to enter into the Indian side of Kashmir, where tens of thousands of people have been killed in a revolt against New Delhi's rule that began in 1989 and lasted decades until the violence ebbed. - Copyright Holder: ANI (India)
