- Story Text: Former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on Wednesday (February 18) said that the world cannot wait for political change in the United States to act on climate change, urging countries like India to lead innovation and implementation efforts.
Speaking at India's Mumbai Climate Week 2026, Clinton said climate solutions must be built now. She cited a climate-linked insurance initiative that has reached 500,000 women who previously had no coverage, calling it an example of how innovation can deliver both social impact and economic opportunity.
Describing the Global South as being on the frontlines of climate change, Clinton expressed confidence that India can emerge as a key innovator and implementer.
India is the world's third‑largest emitter and has been dealing with worsening air quality in its top cities as well as climate-change linked adverse weather events. It has accelerated climate initiatives in recent years, pledging net‑zero by 2070. - Copyright Holder: ANI (India)
