- Story Text: Swiss President Guy Parmelin called for strong AI governance at the India AI Summit in New Delhi on Thursday (February 19), saying artificial intelligence brings both benefits and challenges for societies.
Parmelin said new technologies can improve people's lives but also create concerns, particularly over job displacement.
He said that such worries are not limited to Switzerland but are shared by countries like India, adding that he and the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi agree on the need for good governance to guide AI development.
Referring to the dominance of the United States and China in the AI sector, Parmelin stressed that other countries must cooperate to ensure balanced growth.
He highlighted Switzerland's EPFL-led "Apertus" project as an example of how nations can work together to prevent concentration of power and promote inclusive innovation. - Copyright Holder: ANI (India)
