- Story Text: Nigeria fans expressed optimism in the performance of Super Eagle despite losing 1-0 to Argentina in their first match in the World Cup in South Africa.
Supporters who watched the match in a sponsored centre said that there was hope for the team to now faces Greece on Thursday (June 17) in Group C
"The zeal we saw in Super Eagles today if kept on, the sky is our limit". Francis Mkpa says.
"It was fantastic, I didn't believe Nigeria would play the way they played Argentina, if we can continue like this and retain our coach and maintain the boys , I believe we are going places," added Akeem Fashola.
Nigeria poor preparation to the world Cup made soccer fans loose confidence in the team, especially when drawn in the same group with one time world champions Argentina who are among the favourites in the competition.
But with Greece losing their opening match 2-0 to South Korea in Sunday's other Group C match, fans are more confident they can qualify to the knock out stages.
"I was afraid when Nigerians were talking about Argentina, Messi, my premonition was we are going to lose the match with three, four goals margin, but you can see the difference that Nigeria performed very well. If we can go ahead with this kind of tactical and agility in them we can go a certain level in the World Cup," said Mike Nwabueze.
Nigeria next match is on Thursady 17th of this month against Greece who also lost their opening match against South Korea. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
