- Story Text: Tens of thousands of Muslims on Saturday (September 22) marched through the northern Nigerian city of Kano to protest against an anti-Islam film posted on the internet.
Marchers shouted "Death to America, death to Israel and death to the enemies of Islam"
US, Israeli and French flags were dragged along the ground The Islamic Movement of Nigeria, a pro-Iranian Shia Muslim group, organised the event, which passed off peacefully.
Protests over the amateur video, entitled 'Innocence of Muslims', have been continuing in countries with significant Muslim populations for nearly two weeks.
''What the film is trying to convey is not right to watch. It is wrong to watch what they did to the Prophet because it is degrading. They have destroyed the reputation of the Prophet. It is not right to watch it. One should always listen to what the leaders tell one about development of events and the direction to take," said Kano protest leader Muhammed Turi.
The controversial video was made privately in the United States.
