- Story Text:Chelsea recorded a 355 million pound ($478.8 million) loss for the 2024-25 season, UEFA said in newly published financial data.
UEFA's dataset places the result as the largest annual deficit by an English club and the second biggest in Europe, behind Barcelona's 484 million pound loss in 2021.
The same figures put Chelsea's revenue at 511 million pounds, trailing Manchester City's 746 million and Liverpool's 744 million.
UEFA's data also suggests Chelsea's loss widened by roughly 260 million pounds compared with 2023-24.
Although UEFA did not provide a detailed line-by-line breakdown of Chelsea's accounts, it indicated the club's cost base sits among Europe's elite.
Chelsea's wage bill was estimated at about 390 million pounds - the sixth-highest in Europe - while operating costs were put at around 241 million pounds - the fifth-highest.
UEFA also estimated Chelsea's squad is the costliest ever assembled, with a cumulative build cost of more than 1.5 billion pounds.
Matchday income, however, was estimated at about 1.2 million pounds per game less than Liverpool's, with Stamford Bridge listed as the Premier League's 10th-largest stadium last season.
