- Story Text:Ali Yusefi, an Iranian man living in Turkey, said on Saturday (February 28) that he was happy that Israel and the U.S. had struck Iran, adding that he hoped it would bring about a regime change in the country.
Yusefi, a 34-year-old movie director, has been living in Turkey since 2019 and visits Iran regularly. He said toppling of the Islamic Republic's leadership would be like being reborn. "Everyone will feel the liberation. And they'll be able to take a deep breath - a breath of relief," he said.
Referring to mass protests in Iran earlier this year, Yusefi added that the people of Iran had done all they could to bring about regime change and they needed outside help from Israel, U.S. and other countries to achieve their goal. "After the government is finished, then we will be enough for ourselves," he said.
He said people were hopeful but shocked as the strikes began on Saturday but added that most people trust the U.S. and Israel. "Our people accept Trump and Netanyahu a lot. They trust them," he said.
