- Story Text: Spanish newspapers extensively reported on Sunday (March 1) on the news of the United States and Israeli attacks on Iran and the killing of supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Israel said on Sunday it had launched another wave of attacks on Iran, as Iranians grappled with uncertainty after the killing of their veteran supreme leader in U.S. and Israeli strikes a day earlier, while President Donald Trump warned Tehran of consequences for retaliation.
Hours after the U.S. and Israel said an air strike killed Khamenei in the military campaign to overthrow the government of the Islamic Republic, Iran's state media confirmed the 86-year-old leader had died.
The Israeli military said on Sunday that he had been killed in a large-scale operation carried out by its air force.
