- Story Text:Foreign nationals stranded in India's southern Bengaluru city waited anxiously at the Kempegowda International Airport, hoping to receive an update from their airlines, after an escalating conflict between the U.S., Israel, and Iran disrupted flight operations worldwide.
Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei was killed on Saturday (February 28) after the United States and Israel launched one of the most ambitious attacks on Iranian targets in decades, triggering retaliatory strikes by Iran.
Escalating conflict in the Middle East laid bare how heavily global air travel relied on a handful of hubs led by Dubai, the world's busiest international airport, after the shutdown of Gulf airspace rippled quickly across airline networks worldwide.
Amid skyrocketing fares, stranded passengers rushed to book alternate flights. However, scant updates from airline staff was deeply distressing, they said.
The U.S. and Israeli military strikes across Iran have pushed the Middle East into a new and unpredictable conflict, with Iran launching retaliatory attacks against Israel and nearby Gulf Arab countries. - Copyright Holder: ANI (India)
