- Story Text: A group of 122 Portuguese citizens arrived in Lisbon late on Wednesday (March 4) on a commercial flight from Dubai, after leaving the Gulf amid heightened regional tensions.
Some of those who arrived said they were relieved to be back in Portugal and reuniting with their families.
"The main fear is not seeing the family again, and we're in a country where there's an imminent danger of war between these countries. But, honestly, credit where it's due to the surrounding countries they are prepared for this kind of situation, and unfortunately, we got caught up in this process," Pedro Lourenco said after coming out of the airport's arrivals hall.
Airports across the Gulf have begun operating at very reduced capacity as airlines and governments hurry to bring tens of thousands of stranded citizens and residents home amid the escalating U.S.-Israeli conflict with Iran.
