- Story Text:Iraq tightened security on Monday (March 2) in Baghdad's Green Zone, which houses the U.S. embassy, closing most access points to the area and leaving few ways in and out.
Protests against the U.S.-Israeli bombing campaign in Iran turned violent in Iraq on Sunday (March 1). Police fired tear gas and stun grenades to scatter hundreds of pro-Iranian protesters who had gathered outside the Green Zone diplomatic compound.
Iran's neighbours to the east and west, Pakistan and Iraq have the world's largest Shi'ite Muslim populations after Iran, and were the scenes of some of the worst unrest from crowds angry at the U.S.-Israeli attacks.
