- Story Text: Thousands of delegates and visitors descended on Barcelona’s Mobile World Congress on Monday (March 2) as the tech fair kicked off, filling the Fira Gran Via halls for the start of the industry’s biggest annual gathering.
Artificial intelligence (AI) and the ethics surrounding its rapid deployment sits high on this year’s agenda, with organisers framing the 2026 theme as “The IQ Era”, focusing on intelligent systems and the growing role of AI across devices. Exhibitors are showcasing how AI is reshaping smartphones, wearables and connected services, with major brands unveiling new concepts, foldable smartphones and robotics.
The four-day event, marking its 20th year in Barcelona, runs through March 5 and is expected to draw heavy crowds as companies pitch their latest innovations and debate the future of mobile technology, connectivity and regulation.
