- Story Text: A calm Ramadan morning was observed on Wednesday (March 4) in a market in the Saudi capital Riyadh, as the Middle East widening conflict headed into its fifth day.
High-rise buildings in Bahrain’s Manama stood with partial damage, caused by fire that erupted after they were hit by Iranian drones earlier.
U.S. and Israeli forces launched strikes against Iran on Saturday (February 28) after negotiations over Tehran's nuclear program stalled.
The war has since spread beyond Iran's borders, with Iranian attacks hitting Gulf states including Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates and Qatar, as well as U.S. embassies in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, prompting Washington to close diplomatic missions across the region.
As the war headed into the fifth day, global markets reacted to mounting concerns of a prolonged conflict in a region along a major corridor of oil and gas exports. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
