- Story Text: Three Lebanese nationals charged on suspicion of being members of militant group Hezbollah were denied bail by a Nigerian high court on Friday (July 12).
Justice Adeniyi Ademola ruled that the medical report presented by the accused -- Mustapha Fawaz, Abdullah Tahini and Talal Roda -- was not sufficient to grant them bail.
The judge refused to order the re-opening of a supermarket and amusement park belonging to the Lebanese men.
"The bail application was turned down and then he has refused to re-open the premises on ground of national security because it touches on terrorism," said Ahmed Raji, counsel to the accused persons.
The suspects were arrested in May in the north's biggest city Kano.
A raid on the residence of one of the suspects had uncovered a heavy stash of weapons.
The military said in May the weapons were to be used in attacks on American and Israeli targets. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
