- Story Text: Revellers splashed colours, danced to pounding music and soaked in water as India celebrated 'Holi', a festival that signifies triumph of good over evil, on Wednesday (March 04).
In temple town of Mathura, believed to be the birthplace of Hindu Lord Krishna, thousands gathered on the streets, tossing powdered colour into the air and dancing shoulder to shoulder, their clothes and faces stained in bright hues.
In the cold desert region of Ladakh, Indo-Tibetan Border Police marked Holi by dancing, applying colours to each other and sharing the celebrations with locals.
Holi is marked with unique traditions across India, with devotees in India's northern Varanasi playing Holi with pyre ashes on Saturday (February 28).
Celebrated at the onset of spring, Holi is also associated with the eternal love of Krishna and his consort Radha. - Copyright Holder: ANI (India)
