- Story Text: Oscar-nominated filmmaker Paul Thomas Anderson's action-packed political satire "One Battle After Another" is one of the film's competing for the Oscar's top prize of best picture on March 15.
The film follows ex-revolutionary Bob Ferguson (Leonardo DiCaprio) as a former rival of his, Steven Lockjaw (Sean Penn) resurfaces, bringing old scores to a head, including the kidnap of Ferguson's daughter, played by newcomer Chase Infiniti.
"It's a wild odyssey, man, multi-layered, complex, so many different crazy characters popping up out of nowhere, surprises. You don't know who to trust. And it's done on this massive scale. It's an art house film on a massive scale," said DiCaprio.
Out in September last year, "One Battle After Another" has won several awards this season including best motion picture - musical or comedy at the Golden Globes, one of four prizes it took at that event and three
Critics Choice prizes. Meanwhile at the recent BAFTA awards in London it won multiple awards such as best picture, best director, best adapted screenplay and best cinematography.
Heading into the Oscars, "One Battle After Another" is up for 13 awards including best directing, best adapted screenplay and best film editing. As well as competing against Ryan Coogler's historical horror "Sinners", which leads the pack with 16 nominations, it's also battling for best film against movies including Chloe Zhao's "Hamnet" and Guillermo del Toro's "Frankenstein."
