Fans flocked to catch a glimpse of Red Bull’s Formula 1 driver Max Verstappen in Melbourne on Thursday (March 5) ahead of the weekend’s season opener.
The Dutch driver finished second in last year’s world championship after winning the previous four editions.
Attending a Red Bull fan question and answer session on the banks of Melbourne’s Yarra River, Verstappen said he was unsure of the likely makeup of the grid.
F1 will incorporate sweeping technical changes this year. It has simultaneously overhauled chassis and power unit regulations for the first time in decades, posing a challenge for drivers and engineers alike while raising concerns about the quality of racing.
The Australian Grand Prix will be at Melbourne’s Albert Park on Sunday (March 8).
