- Story Text: Brazzaville moved through routine activity on Wednesday (March 11) as the Republic of Congo headed toward a presidential election scheduled for March 15, when voters will decide whether to extend President Denis Sassou Nguesso’s long rule or back one of several opposition candidates.
Posters for the contenders were displayed across the capital, including at bus stops and major intersections, as commuters waited for transport and vendors opened their stalls in the main trading areas.
Traffic flowed normally around key administrative buildings, including City Hall, with no disruptions reported. The election comes as parties make their final push for visibility in a race that includes both veteran politicians and newer challengers.
