- Story Text: Lebanese families, displaced from their homes by the on-going conflict, are sheltering in tents on the side of the road in Beirut's Ramlet al-Baida seafront.
Mahmoud Kassem, who is one of them, told Reuters that he was displaced from his home in the southern suburbs of Beirut, due to the recent escalation between Israel and Hezbollah. "My heart is dead,' he said.
In Beirut's Ramlet al-Baida seafront where he is now stranded with his family, damaged vehicles were being pulled away after an Israeli strike hit the area in the early hours of the day.
Lebanon's health ministry said twelve people were killed in the strike.
Lebanon was pulled deep into the war in the Middle East last week, when Iran-backed Hezbollah opened fire on Israel to avenge the killing of Iran's supreme leader.
Israel has pounded the country's south, east and the capital's southern suburbs, killing more than 600 people. It has also ordered mass evacuations in those same areas, pushing more than 800,000 people out of their homes.
