- Story Text: Israeli forces blew up a house in the Palestinian town of Dura, near Hebron, on Saturday (March 14) after ordering the family to evacuate, the official Palestinian news agency WAFA reported.
WAFA said the house belonged to the father of Palestinian prisoner Azmi Abu Hleil. It said Israeli forces stormed the neighbourhood and evacuated the three-storey house before detonating it.
Abu Hleil is a Palestinian prisoner alleged to have carried out a shooting attack near Bethlehem about a year ago.
The Israeli military did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment.
Israel says demolishing the homes of relatives of attackers and their fellow villagers is a deterrent to future attacks.
Palestinians and human rights groups consider the practice a form of collective punishment, prohibited by international law.
