- Story Text:Sirens sounded across Tel Aviv on Monday night (March 9) and a projectile was seen flying through the sky as the war between Israel and the Iran-backed Lebanese group Hezbollah entered a second week.
Hezbollah fired missiles deep into Israel, setting off air raid sirens in central Israel and its commercial hub Tel Aviv, as interception blasts sounded as far as Jerusalem.
Earlier on Monday, Iran named Mojtaba Khamenei to succeed his slain father as supreme leader, signalling that hardliners remain firmly in charge and appearing to close off any path to a swift end to war in the Middle East.
