  • Story Text: Costume designer Deborah Scott is nominated for an Oscar her work in "Avatar: Fire and Ash". Scott is no stranger to the Academy Awards, winning an Oscar in her field for romantic drama "Titanic" in 1998. In 2023, Scott earned recognition form the Costume Designers Guild Awards, receiving a Career Achievement Award. The designer's latest Oscar nomination brings her total to two.
    The most decorated of the costume design nominees, Ruth E Carter has added her fifth Oscar nomination with her work on "Sinners". Carter previously won the Academy Award in Costume Design in 2023 for "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever", and in 2019 for its prequel film "Black Panther".
    Kate Hawley's work in horror remake "Frankenstein" is nominated in the costume design category. The costume designer recently won the prize for costume design at the BAFTAs and Critics Choice Awards for her work in the movie,. Hawley was also awarded Costume Designer of the Year at the Fashion Awards in 2025. This is Hawley's first Oscar nod.
    Polish-American designer Malgosia Turzanska is nominated for her period costumes in Chloe Zhao's "Hamnet". Turzanska's work in the biographical film about the early life and personal tragedies of writer William Shakespeare has earned her nominations across several film critics societies. This is the first time Turzanska has made the Oscars short list. 
    Costume designer Miyako Bellizzi is nominated for "Marty Supreme", starring actor Timothee Chalamet. The film has been the designer's breakout work on the awards circuit, landing her nominations at the BAFTAs and Satellite Awards.
