- Story Text: Approximately 4,000 people protested in front of the US embassy in London on Saturday (March 7) at the end of a demonstration against the bombing of Iran and Lebanon by Israel and American forces.
The protest brought together a broad coalition of anti-war, pro-Palestine, and some Jewish peace groups. Iranian demonstrators included opponents of the current regime who were against the bombing, and also supporters of the government.
Some protesters brandished large portraits of Ali Khamenei, Iran’s supreme leader who was killed on the first day of the bombing campaign, while others flew Palestinian and Lebanese flags.
The protest was organized by the same group that has held regular demonstrations against the bombing of Gaza, but attendance at this one was substantially smaller. The turnout was estimated by a Reuters reporter and based on the number of people occupying a known space.
