Residents described a mix of fear, exhaustion and resilience after weeks of sirens, disrupted routines and nights spent listening for possible rocket alerts, 68-year-old professor, Marc Brettler said that he sleeps "With half an ear open," to make sure children and grandchildren could reach shelters in time.
Others spoke of frustration at school closures, working from home and the strain of daily uncertainty, while also voicing hope that the fighting would end soon. Several said they remained optimistic despite the hardship, framing the moment as part of a larger national struggle and saying they believed quieter days lay ahead.
The U.S.-Israeli war with Iran began on February 28, when Washington and Israel launched strikes on Iran, prompting retaliatory missile attacks on Israel and on U.S. targets in Gulf Arab states as the conflict spread across the region.
