- Story Text:A soft, luminous tide of pink blossoms briefly transformed Aitona into one of Spain’s most vivid spring scenes as thousands of peach trees burst into bloom.
From late February to mid‑March, the orchards drew visitors from across the world, who walked the tracks between rows of petals or settled for quiet picnics under the trees. The sweet scent of the flowers and the bright colours spread across the Catalan fields in Aitona.
Visitors said the colourful landscape offered a perfect setting to slow down and enjoy nature.
Eighteen‑year‑old Russian‑born Ekaterina Maratkanova, who moved to Barcelona with her Ukrainian parent at age four, said she has returned to the blooming orchards every spring for the past five years, finding them far less stressful than other tourist spots.
Another visitor, Omayra from Colombia, was visiting her daughter in Spain and decided to take advantage of the trip to see the bloom.
A local programme supported by the town council organised guided routes, food fairs and painting contests celebrating Aitona’s fruit‑growing heritage.
