- Story Text:A Dubai-based art therapist offered a sound healing and breathing workshop for children to help them manage stress and anxiety following recent Iranian missile and drone attacks in the country.
Gently striking singing bowls, ringing chimes, and playing an ocean drum, art therapist Joy Najm filled the room with soothing tones as she guided children through mindfulness exercises.
She led a small group session combining breathing exercises, meditation, and drawing. The children sat quietly, bringing their fingertips together, closing their eyes, and repeating positive affirmations before expressing themselves through drawing.
Najm said she offered this class for free and held it at her home to provide support while keeping families safe and secure.
“I really want to create awareness for the parents and the children that we can still feel some safety within us. And it's for everyone. It's like, really, therapy should be for everyone; it should not be a luxury,” added Najm.
Parents attending the sessions said the activities help their children disconnect from the outside world and find moments of calm amid ongoing regional tensions.
