- Story Text:Members of India's main opposition, Congress party, took to streets in New Delhi on Monday (March 16) to protest over the India-U.S. trade deal, saying that it would hurt the interests of Indian farmers.
National President of Indian Youth Congress, Uday Bhanu Chib said the Congress party would keep raising the voice until the pact is retracted.
New Delhi had initially expected to sign an interim deal in March, followed by a full deal later, after U.S. President Donald Trump agreed in early February to cut punishing U.S. tariffs on Indian imports in return for commitments including halting Russian oil imports, lowering duties on U.S. goods and pledging to buy $500 billion worth of American products. - Copyright Holder: ANI (India)
