- Story Text: Bereaved relatives of the ill-fated Bellview flight that crashed on Saturday night (October 22) gathered on Thursday (October 27) for a procession around the crash site. The crash happened in the Lisa Ogun state Nigeria killing all the 117 people on board. The procession was a mark of respect for the victims before funeral services started.
With lots of weeping and wailing most of the bereaved were led out of the site to a multi-faith funeral service which lasted for hours. President Olusegun Obasanjo was among the mourners. Other mourners included emergency workers, Bellview staff, relatives of victims and top government officials. They gathered under a white marquee while others stood outside. Anglican and Catholic clergymen as well as evangelical pastors and choirs took part in the lengthy service of prayers and songs.
A Muslim cleric delivered the prayer in Arabic. President Olusegun Obasanjo, is also mourning his wife Stella who died in Spain on the same day that the crash happened. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
