- Story Text: Tourists in Paris stepped onto a temporary bridge suspended between two pillars of the Eiffel Tower on Tuesday (March 17), walking over a 60‑metre drop as the monument launched the latest edition of its seasonal high‑altitude attraction.
The structure, first installed last year, is built from layered knotted nets and supported by a cable system.
Visitors edged across the net walkway on the first floor of the tower, part of an installation intended to draw people during quieter months, the tower's management said.
“It was my first try, such an experience. It’s unique for me and it was really scary,” said Adem Tok, a tourist from Turkey.
Others appeared more comfortable with the height.
"I'm not really scared, I'm a private pilot so I like the high altitude,” Bianca Vargas Perez, from Costa Rica, said.
Eiffel Tower director Patrick Branco Ruivo said the structure was opened for a second year to maintain activity during the low season in March.
The hanging bridge will stay up until May 3.
