- Story Text: Travellers from Iraq crossed through the Karameh border crossing with Jordan by cars on Wednesday (March 18) - using it as an alternative to flying, due to air travel disruptions in the region.
Iraqi national Anas Mohammed said they had to travel for approximately eight to ten hours.
Border control official Qais Al Gharaiba in Mafraq said that the border crossing has been accommodating both Arab and foreign nationals.
The crossing, which normally deals with 500-600 people a day, is now dealing with up to 1,700 travellers daily, Al Gharaiba added.
The U.S.-Israeli war against Iran, now in its third week, has thrown global aviation into turmoil, with flights cancelled, rescheduled and rerouted, as most Middle East airspace stays shut over fears of missile and drone attacks.
