- Story Text: India's liquefied natural gas (LNG) supply outlook will come under strain following a strike on Qatar's Ras Laffan facility, said President of Eco-Diplomacy and Strategies Mahesh Sachdev in New Delhi on Thursday (March 19).
Qatar said on Wednesday that it had successfully intercepted four out of five ballistic missiles launched from Iran, while the fifth hit Ras Laffan Industrial City and caused "extensive damage.
The recent strikes raise concerns over price surge, with gas prices skyrocketing, forcing Indian demand for LNG to be stymied, said Sachdev.
"Luckily in case of LNG, we are half self-reliant so the other half is imported and LNG very often is a substitute fuel for crude or refined petroleum products", he added.
India has been hit hard by the jump in crude prices and disruption in oil and gas supplies, but unlike China it has not moved to ban exports of refined fuel. - Copyright Holder: ANI (India)
