- Story Text: Locals in Indian Kashmir's Budgam city collected and donated gold, silver, copper, and cash as a mark of solidarity with Iran on Sunday (March 22).
They said the loss of lives, especially children and damage to infrastructure in the ongoing crisis prompted them to contribute to the relief effort.
Iran's Embassy in India also acknowledged the gesture, sharing visuals of the donations from Kashmir on social media and thanking Indians for their support.
More than 2,000 people have been killed since the U.S. and Israel attacked Iran on February 28, while Americans appear increasingly concerned at signs the war could expand further as it enters its fourth week.
The donations come amid ongoing hostilities between Iran, the United States and Israel, with continued airstrikes and missile exchanges reported across the region, raising concerns over civilian casualties and damage to key infrastructure.
Vital energy infrastructure in Iran and neighbouring Gulf states has been attacked, sending oil prices up 50% and threatening global economic shock. - Copyright Holder: ANI (India)
