- Story Text:A barrage of missiles was seen intercepted in the early hours of Tuesday (March 24) over Israel’s sky, as its military said it was working to defuse threats launched from Iran amid a war that has raged for nearly a month.
Iran launched multiple waves of missiles at Israel, the Israeli military said, after U.S. President Donald Trump postponed a threat to bomb the Islamic Republic's power grid because of what he described as productive talks with Iranian officials.
However, Iran's powerful parliament speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf - who an Israeli official and two other sources familiar with the matter said was the interlocutor in the talks on the Iranian side - said no negotiations had taken place.
Iran's elite Revolutionary Guards said late on Monday (March 23) it targeted several Israeli cities, including Dimona and Tel Aviv and a number of U.S. targets.
Iran has effectively closed the key Strait of Hormuz since the United States and Israel launched their war on the country on February 28. More than 2,000 people have been killed in the war.
