At least three people died and several others were feared trapped after an avalanche hit India's northern Ladakh federal territory on Friday (March 27).
An avalanche struck the high-altitude Zoji-La Pass, blocking a critical highway route and leaving several vehicles buried under debris.
More than a dozen people were trapped at the site as the rescuers raced against time to pull out the survivors, said local media reports.
The Himalayan region of Indian Kashmir and Ladakh, with its snow-capped mountains, is a popular tourist destination but has seen several mishaps caused by avalanches in the past. - Copyright Holder: ANI (India)
