- Story Text: Grammy-winning singer and actor Brandy was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Monday (March 30) in recognition of a career spanning more than three decades that has made her one of the best‑selling female artists in music history.
"I wanted a legacy written in stone," Brandy said during the ceremony. "A star on the Walk of Fame is a definition of legacy. It doesn't just celebrate your success, it cements your story. It doesn't just honor your work, it immortazlies your light. It is a symbol that says you didn't just arrive, you endured. You didn't just dream, you became.
The event featured tributes from singer and producer Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds and actor, writer and television producer Issa Rae.
"For me you have one of the best voices that I've ever heard. You give one of the best feelings I've ever heard," Babyface said.
Rae said without Brandy and her role as Moesha in the 1990s television show of the same name, other Black television shows would not exist.
"Honestly, without 'Moesha,' there's no me as a writer."
The star is the 2,839th since the completion of the Walk of Fame in 1961.
