- Story Text: China and Pakistan have jointly issued a five-point initiative on restoring peace and stability in the Gulf and Middle East region following talks between their foreign ministers a day earlier, said Beijing on Wednesday (April 1).
The initiative calls for the "immediate cessation of hostilities, starting peace talks as soon as possible, ensuring the safety of non-military targets, shipping lanes, and safeguarding the primacy of the United Nations Charter," said Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Mao Ning at a regular news briefing on Wednesday.
Mao added that China remains committed to engaging closely with Pakistan and other relevant parties to contribute constructively toward achieving a ceasefire and ending the conflict. Pakistan has previously said it is ready to facilitate peace talks between Washington and Tehran.
