  • Story Text: Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said on Saturday (April 4) that he is ready to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin for negotiations to end the war between their countries.
    Zelenskiy made the comments to reporters after meeting with Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I as part of his visit to Istanbul, where he also met Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan.
    Zelenskiy announced greater security co-operation with Turkey after meeting Erdogan, as Kyiv seeks to leverage its wartime know-how on the international stage.
    Zelenskiy said that he had agreed "new steps" in security cooperation with the Turkish president, and that teams would finalise the details shortly.
    Erdogan told Zelenskiy that Turkey would continue to support negotiations between Ukraine and Russia to end their war, the Turkish presidency said.
