- Story Text: EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas said on Tuesday (March 31) Europe and Ukraine were united in confronting what she described as a shared drone threat from Iran and Russia.
Linking Moscow’s use of Iranian‑designed drones in Ukraine to instability spreading from the Middle East, Kallas said the conflicts were interconnected while addressing a meeting of Ukrainian officials and E.U. foreign ministers in Kyiv.
At the event, president Volodymyr Zelenskiy likened Iranian pressure on shipping through the Strait of Hormuz to Russia's blockade of Ukraine's Black Sea ports in 2022.
Zelenskiy said Kyiv was working to ensure Europe's interests were represented in efforts to end the war with Russia, adding that Ukraine had proposed an Easter ceasefire to the U.S. and was awaiting a response from Russia.
