Summary:Pope John Paul spent eight days in his home country, Poland in June. He celebrated mass at the former Nazi concentration camp at Auschwitz; and survivors from the camp, wearing their prison uniforms were among the congregation. Auschwitz is not far from Cracow, where as Karol Wojtyla, Pope John Paul had been Archbishop. The people welcomed him back with intense pride in the first Polish Pope.
